Isn't it so sad how family can act? I'm having a THanksgiving dinner at my house this year. My hubby is actually going to be home this year. First time in 5 years!! Anyways my family won't come over. Say I live too far out! David's family is coming out . Only because none of them know how to make a turkey!!

| I only live about 45 mins away! They just want to be ugly to me. My step mother and my husband don't get along. |

Ladies, A wise man once said, "Not all families are born under the same roof nor do they share common blood". Over my many years I have found that to be so true.
My wife and I both are from what would be considered dysfunctinal families. Thirty plus years ago, we decided that we would never let any family dispute or small minded family members rain on our parades. We have three great, grown kids and now two grand kids. But over the years, especially during the holidays, we have entertained complete strangers at our Thanksgiving and Christimas dinners. We have had two exchange sons from Denmark, and one exchange daughter from Denmark. One year we went to the Salvation Army and found a needy family that was really trying to make it, we shared our food and God's gift with them and they have become life long friends. One Thanksgiving we had five guys that were more or less stranded in the Port of Houston from Greece, we had the best time hearing about their lives, families and what they thought of the USA. We still get cards from a couple of them and one updates us on his kids and family. Through the Lighthouse of Houston, we found a young blind man that had no family, he was a abondoned by his family at birth. For the past 27 years, he has spent 3 or 4 day with us each year during the holidays and we have received more from him than he from us. My point is this, don't waste your time and energy on petty family stuff, reach out and you will be blessed beyond words. The best way to bring family together is to build your life without them and when they see the happiness and fullness you you have, they can't help but envy and want to be a part of it. It worked for us and now I see my grown kids doing the same thing in reaching out to folks. I wouldn't trade the memories and blessings and the friends we have from all over the world and maybe that just what the "Big Guy Intended". |

thanks, the whole point is to get negative people out of your life, even if they are family, some folks just choose to live that way - and don't dwell on negative family relationships, it only gives them power - it took me a lot of heartaches to learn those lessons - some people need drama in their life and that is the way the get it by hurting others - bless them, put the Christ light around them and live your life on the positives -
get tired of my preaching, a simple "just shut up old man is okay"
love and light |

Oh no. I can vouch for some of the members and I think we all have minds that think alike.
some posts were edited due to personal information but I thought that a lot of the posts had nice things to say so I saved those. _________________ Proud Momma to 3 adult children (22, 20 and 19) 3 dogs, 4 cats, 2 parakeets, 5 ducks, 24 chickens and 1 hubby. |
