The most i've ever had is 3 in 1 day from 3 chickens! Is that any good?

3 a day for 3 chickies is really good. They cannot lay more than one a day and they like to take a day off from time to time. My mallard duck will lay for 7-8 days straight and then not lay for 3 days or so.

We dont have any layers at the moment as 1 is malting and 2 aren't old enough yet.

Yesterday we got 7 and we are stalled at 7 right now. Maybe more later. Mooney I have 21 hens.

Birdhill Bragging-Where Chicken RuleOkay, not bragging but I have 54 hens, usually get 42-46 daily but Sunday, I got 51, and I have two brooding so they are in isolation - maybe it because I went to church with the wife???

Just rub it in Birdhill, just rub it in. Can you go to hatching and babies and tell me how to know if a bird is broody??

Broody HensIt seems that all my white cochin hens have decided they want to be mothers.
A broody(setting) hen will stay on the nest day and night and hardly leave even to eat or drink. Also, they will pick the devil out of you if you try to take the eggs from the nest and if they do get off the nest they will cluck almost contineously. Needless to say, they stop laying themselves. So I put them in my isolation pen without any nest for a few days until they get over the desire for motherhood.
I will be hatching in the spring, don't tell my wife she think we are going back to Europe. Mine are all big breed, Buff and White Cochins, Buff Orphan*.*, Austrolops, Wyndots,Sex Links,etc. ( I failed spelling) I have a buff cochin roo that weights in at just over 12 lbs, but he will come and get in my lap if I set on the grass. His main purpose in life is to eat butterflies that comes to the plants that I planted to attract butterflies, guess I didn't plan that to well. Nothing beats pine straw and dust baths.

My hubs and I were just talking about you. We may have to pay a visit and get us some eggs or chicks next spring. I have some that will stay in the nest until I come and get the eggs.

WoooooooooHoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! I just wish mine would lay one! They just turned 24 weeks old. I've got my fingers and toes crossed that it will be any day now!!

I had one RIR to lay for about a month and then all of a sudden BOOM! Got 6 so far today!!
