Tips for winterizing your outdoor dog.

When you fry chicken or anything like that, take the oil that you fried it in and pour over your dog's food. The oil or grease helps build up fat so they stay warm.

Feeding dogs raw eggs makes their coats shiney!

I always give my dogs the grease outta my cooking. They love it. Plus it keeps my plumbing clean!! LOL!

Yeah there is that benefit too. Coffee grounds make a good plant food.

I just won't have an outside dog again.
The first few years here we had two outside dogs that were left overs from our youth.
We gave them the best lives that we could and both of them lived nice long lives.  I cut dog holes in the front and back of my old garage and put the dog houses inside the garage.
I put flaps cut from an old heavy quilt over the doors to keep the draft out too.
Actually they would come into an entry area then turn and enter their dog house.
The food and water were in the entry areas and there was a lot of insulation around the dog houses.

After those sweet dogs died all of our dogs have slept in the house and just go out when they want to.

I understand.  I have 7 indoor dogs and 3 outdoor dogs.  Once the outdoor dogs pass away I won't replace them.  Plus our indoor dogs get soooo much more attention.

Hi Judy,
At least where you are you don't get the hard winters like we do up here in Michigan.
One of our ourside dogs was Bruno.  He was a Husky mix that loved the Winters.
