If you live in the northern part of the US and get really cold winters~put a little vasoline on your chickies come and waddles and it will keep them from getting frost bite! Anyone else have any ideas to keep our chickies warm and comfy this winter?

No drafts in the hen house.
I always had a heat lamp on.
When I went to a larger hen house I put in two heat lamps.
That way on a very cold night if one burned out there still would be one left.
If it was a cold night the hens would sleep under the lights.
If it wasn't that cold they would sleep on the other end of their house.
During the day if they went out to play in the snow they would come back in if they were too cold. |

I keep two heat lamps on also. I point them at the roosting poles. One day was really cold so I pointed one light towards the nesting boxes!!! Gotta keep my mommas happy!!!
